Abstract

Background: Nursing is a humanitarian and scientific profession that requires balancing clinical competence with emotional and psychological support for patients. Nurses face several challenges that may hinder their ability to provide holistic care.

Objective: This study aims to highlight the humanitarian and psychological role of nurses and emphasize the importance of balancing empathy and scientific expertise to enhance the quality of nursing care.

Method: The study adopted a descriptive analytical approach by reviewing relevant scientific literature and legal texts concerning the ethical and emotional responsibilities of nurses.

Results: Findings indicate that nurses require ongoing psychological and professional support. Emotional intelligence and effective communication are key attributes. However, excessive empathy without boundaries may lead to emotional exhaustion.

Conclusion: Balancing scientific proficiency with compassionate care is essential for better therapeutic outcomes. The study recommends implementing psychological support programs and enhancing nurses’ emotional intelligence.
